They need a better name for that. It could be the most accurate heat index in the history of history. I would not take it seriously.
Wet bulb is a common term. As dry bulb temperature approaches wet bulb (increasing humidity), evaporation decreases hence the ability of heat dissipation by sweating.

Once again…for the kids in the back…not only is overall attendance at a significantly down from its height….

Some periods it’s cratered…summer being one.

And it’s the same cause and effect. Which isn’t that Florida is hot
Only negative and hateful legacy fans notice this stuff. "Real" Disney fans are supposed to be positive and look the other way.

I feel like the Disney "Pixie Duster" community is facing a lot of resistance today.

Can we all please STOP noticing and talking about negative Disney things out loud....please?

You guys are ruining the magic for the rest of us.

OMGosh! They are actually working on a system to tell you when it's too hot and humid ! They've got to be kidding.
We all know when it's too hot and humid and what to do for it. It sounds a lot to me like CYA so if people faint or get sick from the heat they can say, " We had warnings that it was hot". I agree that the misters were wonderful, and of course, more shade would help. #1 is to turn the AC back on in the attractions. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to do this.

It is more a case of reorganizing your plans around the weather.

What would they be CYing their As from?

Not everyone has tons of experience with Florida heat and humidity. Maybe Disney is just trying to help them prepare for and navigate it. They don’t want people to faint or get sick.
