This is an interesting observation because I felt that too but couldn't articulate why. Uncanny is probably the right word. It emulates a real world city street so well that that only highlights its lack of actual life and interior spaces. Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley have never felt this way because of the fantasy design combined with the smaller scale making the things you can enter closer together.
This I think emphasizes why kinetics provide so much value to one’s experience and why I give Berk the leg up.

To be a nerd briefly, so many video games will make picture perfect replicas of cities and it’s cool to explore and see, but your interest wains almost immediately because you realize that the shops are not shops, it’s uninhabited, etc.

And agreed Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley benefit from the smaller scale. In Paris, while there’s interesting things happening in windows with wand interactions and such, unless you’re directly in front of the window, it doesn’t add to the ambiance of the greater land at all

Look how that turned out with Villain-Con and DreamWorks Land though. Yeah, the park desperately needs capacity, but they need to do it right.

Dreamworks is fine for what it is -- Villain-Con, yeah it's straight up trash. But at least it's SOMETHING. Even if not the best ride - looking at the Carousel for instance, at least it sucks up SOME of the younger / family crowd.

You know what's funny?
Villain-Con is one of those things that would be ripped to shreds if Disney did it but weirdly gets a pass because it's at Universal, and the way theme park enthusiasts treat Universal differently than Disney.
Huh? But it does get ripped by many...even my kids who love Minions don't give it a pass.

It’s literally not the worst thing in the world.

Just a cheap solution replacing a decades old attraction. Universal didn’t have a very big budget at the time for projects outside of Epic construction.

At least they didn’t let that space linger and immediately did a capacity swap.

Minion Blast and DreamWorks Land were the result of firing near everyone at Universal Creative and killing a whole slate of projects. They then regretted that and decided they needed some new things because Epic Universe was now delayed.

Well yeah. Disney has spent decades positioning itself as the "premium" theme park operator.

And if they were to put a villain con type ride, the Disney influencer machine would sing its praises.

That's because, when you peel back the curtain, Disney and Universal operate almost identically.

My younger brother and I never gave Villain-Con a free pass. I think it was the worst shooting attraction I did at USO and at WDW combined.

We consider Villain-Con to the worst attraction we've been on at Universal. I have no plans on going on Fast & furious: Supercharged before it goes away next year.

I wouldn't be shocked if Villain-Con would be consider the worst attraction at all 3 Universal theme parks in Florida after Fast & Furious: Supercharged leaves.

It will be considered that yes.

Yoshi is worse but USF’s ride line-up is so weak and has multiple terrible rides it feels worse at USF

Not to me and be happy you didn't this towards my younger brother because he would have some choice words because that ride I remembered caused his hand to act up. The catch is my younger brother's hands never acted up on Men in Black, Toy Story Midway Mania, or Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger spin.

I enjoy Yoshi. Its short, but I do enjoy it. My younger brother and I did Villain-con in September of 2023. He doesn't want to go on the ride again and I can't blame him.

Universal for Villain-Con made a mistake by not using ride vehicles. The gun not being the lightest is not exactly a turn on. That attraction at least back in 2023 had lagging issue and the screen's ability to sense where the gun is lined up is not completely accurate.

I agree for the general public these attractions are very enjoyable.

For us super theme park nerds we tend to be far more critical.
