News Disney Springs Bus Service to Resorts Now Requires Reservation Verification

Maybe, but as of a few years ago 4th of July week has been some of the deadest I have ever seen the parks.
I do think folks travel patterns have changed. I think folks have learned to stay away from WDW during the historically crowded times, turning times that was previously crowded times into less crowded times.

As Yogi Berra said, “Nobody goes there no more , it’s too crowded”. 😉

Was last week particularly busy? I never saw any passholder reservations fill up. But I wasn’t checking daily.
No idea, I just know 2 and 3 years ago we needed to be down for the 4th for various events and it was shock how few people were there (which that summer is where the original thread about attendance came from). I mean, reservations for pretty much every restaurant available, walk on to Toy Story Mania dead. Now I don't know if it changed last year or is changing some this year (the second year was busier than 3 year ago), but based on pretty recent history, I can't imagine they want to limit anyone getting to the resorts that might spend some money.

The primary goal was to slap dvc into a place it did not belong…hence the concrete monster next to “Aruba” 🙄

But it also allows for higher prices on the three “cheaper” hotels…decreases the need for buses in that concentrated section…and provides a cheaper overhead form -they hoped - as a test case.

Now I don’t believe it’s done what they’ve hoped…but worth a try

Come on, now…this isn’t all that hard to track
Great. Use the same logic to justify a new PeopleMover between Disney Springs and Coronado

My point is that the logic he’s trying to use would apply to any non-bus addition to WDWs transportation system.
Not completely.

Having 1 non-bus option seems to be enough.

That’s why I keep mentioning Coronado - it’s the only moderate with bus only options now and it’s usually the cheapest moderate option.

DAK has the built in Savanah which kinda outweighs the transportation issue for those who care. I know it does for me! A peoplemover to DAK would be nice of course.

No one knows what the policy actually is. That’s why you have people getting a hernia trying to figure out how it would prevent them from getting back to their car at DHS.

In particular, this year’s July 4 has a ton of celebrations going on at places given it’s 250 plus the World Cup so I wouldn’t be surprised if people opt for other celebrations than WDW.

I think that was me!

But I’ve since made peace with the fact that many of my fellow parks fans are happy to settle for dull, poorly-managed, and uninspired transportation solutions at WDW (as long as they’re outside the parks)!
I told my wife yesterday that if we find ourselves using a bus at WDW I’ve failed in my vacation and logistical planning.

-Signed, a dad that infrequently drinks and has relented to renting a car when visiting the parks and usually books hotel reservations/DVC based on which parks were visiting*

*recent case in point: I booked a quick trip in January and stayed at Pop knowing we’d be principally going to DHS/Epcot. We saw the quite lengthy line at rope drop and, knowing how long the wait and then exchange would take, quickly hopped in our rental car. 10 mins later we were parking and rope dropped Slinky with about a 10 min wait.

Then why all the fuss here?

People love to assume Disney is out to deny them at every turn when I’ve always found the opposite to be true.

They charge a lot but they want you to have a good time. At least those of us who go there with that intention.

Not always but there can be an undue amount of pearl clutching at times. Would be nice if people didn’t make so many negative assumptions about Disney.

Alas, repetition such as this reads like self-doubt.

I don’t think it does.

Disney is notorious for not publishing its policies because they are often enforced or waived at the discretion of the CMs based on its business needs at the time.

The result of this is a certain amount of inherent uncertainty that all the discussion in the world is not going to definitively resolve.

Of course it’s good for people to be aware of what Disney is doing in the moment because forewarned is forearmed.

But people who are not familiar with WDW may get the idea that they may take a wrong step and not be reasonably accommodated by a CM. I suppose anything can happen but in around 60 trips over several years I’ve never experienced it. They are there to help you get around, not hinder you.

I’m not sure what you mean by self-doubt but I’ve been consistent in trying to assure people that it would be difficult to get yourself in a position that a CM would refuse to help fix - especially with a discretionary policy in play.

Valid but everyone’s got their preferences. For me I’d rather take a bus than rent a car any day. It’s the bubble feeling for me.

I’m aware that’s not a solution for the skyliner example you had
Fair enough. It had never occurred to us to rent a car until DME went away. Pricing out Ubers or the Sunshine express to/from the airport, renting a car is usually a wash depending on length of stay.
