News Disney Springs Bus Service to Resorts Now Requires Reservation Verification

I've been visiting for 20 years at all times of the year as a resort guest and have never, ever been asked to 'show my papers' before I could board a bus.

Another stupid and idiotic decision added to the list...
I can remember being asked to show room keys to board buses and watercraft occasionally as far back as the mid 90s. It was rare (still is) but it did happen.

I only remember it happening once on the way to the Disney inn…

I do recall a similar directive was issued and lightly enforced when “magic on demand” (also known as dispatch with gps) was going through trial runs. Never really stuck

But then again…parking was like $2-$6 and they didn’t have elaborate tiering levels either 🙄

I am confused- do you visit during busy months, or avoid them? Your post says both that you do not have experience with them, and that you do.

I have many busy and slow season visits under my belt. There are tradeoffs to both. IMO.

Crowds usually occur in spring when the weather is ideal, so you get long park hours, which I love, and beautiful flowers/plants. Compared to other times of year, spring = spending a bigger % of my time smelling the roses. (just a tad less on rides)

It is worth noting, that Universal's gardening team also does an amazing job! Right now, Seussland has AMAZING topiaries! Most people walk right past them, but I advise all of you to stop and enjoy them. There are some especially cute ones near One Fish two Fish. They are shaped like Seuss-style fish! The gardens of Epic are also exceptional, and add a great deal to the park.
I avoid them when possible but I have been twice during busy times of the year. It was very rough on those days to me and ultimately I'd rather go any other time

I didn’t see anyone post that the restrictions have now been lifted.

We can all stop clutching our pearls and ride the buses to our hearts’ content again.
It was posted the day the restrictions ended.

If discussing a change or potential change at WDW is “clutching pearls” than this entire site is a pearl clutching site.

May I ask if this change would have affected you in anyway? I gave examples of why it would have been a negative for me.

I used the pearl clutching analogy was because we knew it was a temporary measure, and has happened before.

And realistically there are alternatives, even if they are slightly more inconvenient.

But if I missed your post where it did adversely affect you, I hope you found an alternative route back.

Anyway haven’t you been arguing recently that buses aren’t the best mode of transport? Or are you admitting they actually are when they are the only direct mode available? 😊

Well I’m not trying to argue, it’s a discussion:) but the discussion is mostly about the Disney transportation as a whole and that it’s great that Disney has more than just a bus system.

I don’t think Disney would or should 100% replace the bus system - but expanding non-bus options is always a plus.

I would have never imagined pop century would get such a cool option - so anything can happen if you let it! (Anyone? :) )

Did it affect only people who were not staying at Disney resorts?
It would have potentially affected guests staying “on-property” but not at Disney owned hotels. So Swan and Dolphin, Shades of Green, and the “village” resorts like Wyndham, hiltons, Drury, holiday inn, etc.

I say potentially cause there was one report that guests at a “good neighbor” hotel were allowed to ride - not sure if that was a unique exception or the actual policy.

I think that was me!

But I’ve since made peace with the fact that many of my fellow parks fans are happy to settle for dull, poorly-managed, and uninspired transportation solutions at WDW (as long as they’re outside the parks)!
All we do is “settle” around here…like ribbon cuttings on refurbs 🤓

But no…nobody wants the bus…but they’re not gonna outlay huge overhead costs for something more “pretty” or “magical”

Okay. That would not have affected us at all.

Was there any indication that Swolphin, Shades and the village hotels were barred?

That's exactly what you would have said before they began construction of the Skyliner.
Not quite…

Skyliner had a couple of clear objectives

And I said those…I just wasn’t here yet

But back in the old hood…before the gondola…the nuts convinced themselves they were dredging a channel from Caribbean to the back of Epcot…somehow convincing themselves it made sense 😂
