News Walt Disney Imagineering Files Signage Permit for "it's a small world" at Magic Kingdom

Please for the love of god no. Magic Kingdom and Paris are the last outliers that have not been tainted by commercialization.
I think it’s inevitable

After all…Bob created all characters and we must celebrate the master of IP.

But they’re also really cheap…so they may never bother to spend the money…so who knows?

This is one of the few instances where that is actually a good thing.
I actually don’t mind the Disneyland version…

But the main thing is just how much better maintained that version is currently

The wdw version is pretty sad…following the unfortunate pattern of splash and buzz.

You have to let things collapse first at your prices? That’s what a Stanford genius (lower third of the graduating class) came up with?

Characters aside. The DL version was always superior to the MK version anyway and it doesn't have the POTC defense of "it wasn't originally planned" to justify it.

I noticed it seemed improved when I was there this fall, although unless I managed to miss it the area where they say goodbye to people by name was gone or not working. I guess they snuck in some quick refurbishment work when they added new dolls. All the hula dancers were hulaing again!

As others have said, seems like the most likely change would be the addition of IP?

The queue needs to be totally redone and returned to its former glory when it was more open, colored lights, fountains etc. Its all overdue for a major do over after twenty some years. Some of the show scenes still look pretty good. This doesn't sound like anything major though. Maybe its for a new refreshed facade out front at the entrance? However they just did that not long ago.

Almost every MK update / refurb rumored before the 50th has either happened or been announced: Philharmagic, Hatbox Ghost, Big Thunder, Buzz, CoP…

I think Small World was the last one, so wouldn’t be shocked if they revisit the plan to add characters
You’re not doing that “covid got in the way of the bobs for the 50th” gag are you?

We are well past that fairy tale

It was a big nothing burger…minor tweaks to bleed the construction costs that were winding down and the pricing pressure was already turning people away at that point.

There was no “there” there

I was just pointing out that almost all of those rumors from back then eventually happened. It’s anyone’s guess why some took this long but I’m glad to see them regardless
