Universal Announces Texas Resort

I’m unable to stream videos at the moment, but it sounds like my suspicion of brand damage is occurring.

This project just doesn’t make sense in the way they are pursuing it. It’ll probably make money, but at what cost?

I continue to not understand the strategic direction of this company, it feels like spaghetti on the wall.

Legoland and Sesame Place cater to the same demographic. This isn't a bar raised. This is a bar lowered.

I’ve watched it. Indeed legoland is way too generous.

I was calling it Sesame Place+ 18 months ago (or between Legoland/Sesame Place) and that’s also clearly an overcall. Sesame Place is blatantly what they are ripping off.

I’m not sure if it’s worse, but it’s sure not better and there were a good handful of posters who did not feel this product should remotely be compared to that.

They’ve done quite a clever job of nesting the kids dancing in between the actual concepts to make the thing seem more than it is.

My fav is on the other site more dedicated to those theme parks… if people call out this park for looking cheap and not up to standard they are just told “it’s for kids, it’s not for you, they won’t care.”

Like I dunno - I think kids notice these things too. I think everyone notices lower quality offerings, especially when they come from the big players in the game.

The blip of Universal maybe being on top of their game again seems to be over - and I’m sad. I want a healthy competitor pushing the industry forward, but outside of Orlando that’s just not happening. I mean-it’s never happened outside of Orlando to begin with.

Love them or hate them, it’s hard to say Universal is setting the investment pace anymore when Disney is now pumping out their cruise ships. Which are clearly a much, much, much stronger product; hit the same 3-7 age group hard and don’t exclude all the other ones. Plus can be shifted into these markets with nimbleness.

People are too quick to praise the bolused investments of “new parks”.

Del Mar actually looks “ok”!

They worked overtime splicing DreamWorks Land footage into Trolls and Shrek, but you can kind of tell DreamWorks Land is an oversell. Smaller structures and paddocks. Less landscaping.
