The Seas exterior pics

I saw this earlier today :( It makes me sad but from the looks of it, they won't be beating this pavilion down as much as they did with The Land.

What has changed?

Well to start the mural no longer has a sun setting over the sea. It now is just shades of blue and white as VulliamyWDW pointed out. Although I'm assuming from the looks of things they aren't entirely finished painting!

Also, as rumored the original entrance sign that read "The Living Seas" has now been replaced with a more cartoony and vibrant sign that reads "The Seas with Nemo and Friends."

I can only hope they don't mess with my SSE!

Dudes... I'm, telling you -- you've GOT to start watermarking your pictures in Photoshop! I always put my username and a "shown at wdwmagic.com" on there.

Folks always gotta jack stuff.

This may be a silly question, but will the new entrance go back to where the original one was? I was thinking that the current entrance (where you see Turtle Talk right when you walk in) was just temporary. Is that correct?

I loved the old queue and queue music at the Living Seas .. one of the favorite parts of the park for me.

Am I the only one disgusted by this? They take a classic attraction, with a nice sign, and turn it into a kiddie cartoon theme. Who's idiotic brainstorm was that? I guess the signing doesn't make much difference as long as the attraction itself remains mostly the way it was. But I much prefer the mature, scientific, educational atmosphere of the attraction anyday over the childish cartoon fish theme that they are giving it.

The idea behind Epcot is edutainment. Were we educated during the old seabase alpha? Yeah, a little. Were we entertained? Not too much. I have no problem with the overlay as long as there's still education going on. Now if it just turns into some Nemo song and dance with no education at all then I'll be bothered, but as long as we learn about the seas through this then I'm happy.

The future of today is not what the future of the day was back when the park was opened. We're no longer intrigued with living in space, under the seas, or irrigating the desert. The future is still grand and does hold some wonderful things for us, but we're seeing that many of the near future ideas aren't heading that direction at all or are unfeasible. So Seabase alpha is more sci-fi like now than educating. Let's see what kind of education and scientific discovery we get from Nemo and friends. If we still learn a great deal then it's a win win.

One of the best educations I got as a kid was Sesame Street and School Rocks. Both of them were great education but covered with great fun. I see Nemo and Friends as being the same way.

I think that it is a good idea to add Nemo to it because it interests more kids of all ages. And by the way, thanks for the pics, whoever they came from!

Yeah, now that I think of it, I don't think the guests are going to care what the outside of Magic Kingdom looks like so lets just build a whole bunch of restaurants out there. And you know what, they're not going to care about that castle, they just want to ride the rides. And they don't care about that theming on the rides, lets just open a coaster park.
***Sarcasm off***

Disney is all about the little details. The outside of the pavilions at Epcot are as much of the experience as the rides inside.

I asked this on another forum but didn't get many responses:

Does anyone know if they plan on closing the entire Seas pavilion before they reopen the ride in October. I remember when it reopened after significant nemofication last November, they took out the hydrolators and repainted the interior with blues and greens. I also remember alot of people saying that it looked unfinished as if there were just base coats. Could the Seas be closing again to finish the painting in the current open section?

I kept hoping so.. but there's no mention of a closure on any of Disney's schedules.

However - they never formally announced the rehab of Living with the Land until it closed. And guess who is who's alternative? Seas is LwtL's alternative attraction and vice versa.

Few things that have to happen:

A) The walls around the main queue have to come down. This will be obvious.

B) Interior walls have to come down. This will be fairly extensive as they're covering more then they appear to, actually much of the lower observation area of the lower tank. There should be about ~10ft or so beyond the escalators then windows just like on the second level. As it is now, they're very much ceiling to floor like real permanent walls.

C) Signage either needs to be installed, removed, or something. It's obvious signage or lighting or something is missing from the walls inside the building. Especially the main observation deck. Wether or not this is intentional is unknown.
