News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

I think Galaxy’s Edge at DL has a big enough space for a coaster like Cosmic but I feel that DCA is more in need of a themed family coaster but there’s absolutely no space and there won’t be space for years until they get Disneyland Forward going if that’s still a thing.

The question is where, without taking out something else DL GE doesn't have space available for CR.

The space behind Oga's was suppose to be where the restaurant was suppose to go, which is the only "open" spot currently. But even that isn't large enough for CR.

So maybe I'm just dense but what space are you talking about in DL GE?

This is why it needed to be part of the original land design. The fact that we don’t have one coaster or *new* thrill ride at either Avengers Campus or Galaxies Edge is wild. I don’t care what the constraints were. Shortsighted move from a resort wide perspective and poor utilization of IP.

With that said isn’t there apparently an expansion pad between Toontown and GE that could fit an attraction? Not sure if it’s enough room for a coaster though.

Well I'm not going to go back and argue that point on whether it should have been there originally or not. I've said my peace on that.

But yes that is the area behind Oga's I just mentioned, its not large enough for a coaster, its 76k-77k sqft depending on how you measure it. Big enough for a restaurant, but not big enough for a coaster. CR for reference is over 200k sqft.

They'd have to go more into backstage if they were to do it now, and remember that MMRR is also right there. So until they are ready to move TDA and clear out the rest of backstage, its not likely happening at this point.

You’re right about that, CR is much too wide, what can be done with this space?

I was under the impression that there was a decent sized expansion pad in addition to where the restaurant was going to go. 77k is Big enough for a decent sized dark ride though right?

You can't fit a gargantuan Cosmic Rewind in there, but you could actually fit a DL Space Mountain in there.

And at that point it truly would be redundant. It needed to be designed as part of the original land. Unless of course Smugglers Run were to get sacrificed. Haha

It would be tight but sure a dark ride could go in there, something maybe on the scale of Monsters Inc.

Let’s put TDL’s new version of Space Mountain there and theme it to Star Wars (not hyperspace mountain quality), then you have no Space Mountain issue in Tomorrowland and can finally demo it all and build a new one, problem solved lol

Um, I suspect that is going to be bigger than you think. So likely wouldn't fit there. It would have to be the size of current DL SM, not the new one.

I'm not really convinced that a suspended coaster (or a Donkey Kong hidden track coaster) couldn't work within the same constraints of the path and space requirements of DL's Space Mountain.
I don't recall the actual dimensions of DL SM, but I'm pretty sure its bigger than just the outside footprint of the exterior. And it does go down and out from what we see. So I don't know if that could handle the same footprint as a suspended coaster or even DK.

It's actually pretty impressive how contained the DL SM track is. The trick is that it overlaps on itself a lot, and it goes down pretty deep.
