MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I think most of the purists would have been fine with a Disneyland style compromise - as long as the river, riverboat, and a few icons could have stayed - losing the larger river and island would have been an acceptable loss for a large expansion.

While part of me misses the original layout at Disneyland, the new scenery and route is definitely better for both the railroad and riverboat. And of course the fort there had long been closed so there were no AA chickens to cry over.

Yeah losing the riverfront, at least in the front, to me was the bigger issue.

But if they keep an expansion plot built in for after Villains—unlike New Fantasyland—I may not have that big of an issue to be honest.

The new area gives Grizzly Peak New Fantasyland crossover vibes so I’m here for it.

I just hope they continue the pavement changes that started with Big Thunder. It genuinely would really elevate Frontierland especially to become more like Paris to some degree.

No, I agree. I've found myself going out swinging when I don't have to be, this one was from a bit ago when a very difficult situation was happening in my real life and I was just lashing out. Now, that doesn't explain some of my other times but this one was 100% that. I was just upset at the world at the time.
Unfortunately you can’t really use these forums as a stress reliever

I’ve learned that the hard way being on here for some time. While I do enjoy the majority of the discussion's it gets to the point when I need to take a mental break from the constant negativity.

It happens man. Lord knows I’ve done it. Being aware of it is good, and I’m glad you are.

Thanks! I'm seeing a trend in animation, and I'm eager to discuss it. I'll head over there.

Thank you very much for doing this. I was actually wanting to do this when watching the other day, but I had it up on my main living room screen, and then forgot to do it. What a well-done video, that was! I didn't exactly find anything new, except his interesting read on the different sections of the track, but I thought it was easily the most cohesive and comprehensive video on the upcoming area!

I was actually considering doing a reconstruction of the layout, myself, but I've just been too busy. It's just an approximation, and missing obvious mountain features, as well as some of the proposed roaming walk-through areas in all that center space. I'm also I'm not 100% on the proportions here, but seeing it all from the new perspective of exactly 180⁰ flipped from the park map's usual N/S heading is really quite interesting. The water seems to wrap around much more than it previously seemed, but it's all in the perspective. This is also what it would sort of look like to walk back into the rest of the park from Villains Land.

Really happy to see this!
Though I don't believe the scale of the waterway will be as wide as pictured here (and I do hope I'm wrong about that) I am very happy to see how much they are giving us back.
I really like the setback on the waterfall too.
It looks as though it is designed to be a fairly important viewing feature.

I'm not sure if others that opposed this change are in the same camp as myself, but this would not be as egregious if there was no IP tied to it. If it was just a pacific northwest landscape, with some kind of non-IP based "off-road" attraction traversing it, then it would be alot more palatable, IMO. Maybe even have a small section of explorable caves, as an homage to TSI. I don't want to see TSI/ROA go, but I would be ok with the type of replacement I just mentioned. But it is very obvious that Disney management thinks that only new projects with tied-in IP will make them money, and, with the masses that they are now catering to, they're unfortunately probably right.

It would be ideal to feature the displaced animal AA's, Beacon Joe, etc. along the river (creek?).. I am hoping (since there's quite literally no going back now) that the "side" facing the original Frontierland plays more into regular Frontierland and camouflages any Cars visuals until you actually enter Piston Peak. I'm still a little concerned about the Haunted Mansion being so close or if large, mature tree lines will be installed.

I agree, the bigger the water the better, my only concern is the cars ride being short in length, as I feel this ride doesn't nessicarly need to be good but does need to be a long (longer then tron) experience have enjoying the nature being added to this area. I am very happy with the nature being added to this area though. I also am happy that streams, mountains, and big trees will separate different sections and helping sightlines

Had Cars/Villains followed the same solution as the 2016 SWGE addition to Disneyland, including a trestle-bridge, and putting them on the other side of the berm, I would 100% be onboard with these as true expansions.

I just don't see how anyone can think that they could have given MK the same treatment as Disneyland, when the Rivers of America are completely different, in relation to where HM and BTM are at Magic kingdom. There was already a path next to BTM at Disneyland, and MK's was literally right up to the river in one spot, and there's still the channel to get people over. It would have had to be a doughnut-shaped river, where the riverboat was always visible.

Here's Disneyland's map from 2018:

Did you ever visit during that time? I have visited so much more since the change it’s hard to remember what once was. My first visit they still had the mark v monorail even!

There were lots of options. Looks like we are going to end up with a pathway up against big thunder anyways so that would have solved that issue. (Going off the sketch up above, I realize that’s not a construction plan or anything.)

Maybe people are talking about moving the train tracks WAY out, and having people walk next to the tracks on the far side on BTM, but not too close? 🤔 That doesn't seem very logical, to me.

On my first visit to Disneyland, Galaxy's Edge was already under construction, and the river was already shortened. I rode on the Saling Ship Columbia!

Yes, they are making a path along BTM at Magic kingdom, which also happens to be right where the RoA was.

Do you mean now? Or if they had kept the River?
No, I was under the impression that people were discussing what they could have done to keep a portion of the river at MK. Maybe I misread the conversation, but I really would have wanted this... I just am not seeing a way to get a proper number of people to Villains Land without it just being made into a circle. I was pointing out the additional challenges that weren't there with Disneyland.
