MK Big Thunder Mountain to receive full retrack

Funny how there is no problem for Pirates which takes place in the Caribbean sea during the 1700s and Jungle Cruise which takes place in Asia/Africa in near modern times.

But two rides in the same country around 30 years apart (at most) is somehow a big problem.
It’s almost as if theme isn’t just the same as time and place.

Are we doing that thing where we don’t actually know if they did something but someone wondered aloud if they did so everyone takes it as fact and are getting mad about it
The usual.

I saw a post on social media assuming this ride didn’t have something just because it wasn’t confirmed by Disney.

Even though they never reveal all their surprises all at once.

Disney has added Big Thunder Mountain Railroad back to the tier 1 Lightning Lane list of attractions at Magic Kingdom:

Looking at the Tumbleweed section now is making me think about how odd it will be in a few years when the western themed Big Thunder Mountain attraction will stick out when flanked by an attraction about early twentieth century New Orleans on one side and an area with anthropomorphic cars on the other.
But it wasn't odd that a western themed Big Thunder was flanked by an attraction set in the Deep South on one side and an area based on a Mississippi River/Tom Sawyer theme on the other?

Oh it was always messy - splash and big thunder should have never been right next to each other.

This concept doesn’t really help the situation. I doubt the cars will actually be 100% hidden - there will be glimpses of modern day from all areas of liberty square and Frontierland but I think they are going to theme the border areas to blend.

So you’ll probably see cars from big thunder, but the area around big thunder will blend theming wise if that makes sense?

I don't think you will get any glimpses from Liberty Square until after you pass by HM based on the map right? The whole area facing it is built up

I will say that it's funny that off all the lands, it's interesting that Frontierland got the first total rework with every attraction changing or being updated. Tomorrowland is slowly getting its transformation but its funny that Frontierland got it first. I wish we would get something new for Diamond Horseshoe, always thought an all you care to enjoy BBQ place would fit or bring back the performances and turn it into an additional QS as MK really needs another good QS

I feel like there will be a few places in Liberty Square you’ll get glimpses of cars - but it won’t be in your face. Like they will hide it reasonably well. That’s how I’m imagining it.

it seems to me that fantasyland was first.

Tomorrowland should have been 2nd but instead we got the e ticket and a slow change (buzz, carousel and then ??? - I’m guess monsters ends when carousel comes back)

To be fair, Frontierland hadn't seen anything new since 1992, so it was due something new. You wait 30+ years for something new, and then everything comes along at once

I don't see the problem putting them next to each other. Tho, it is a problem for those who posit the false narrative that all of Frontierland/Liberty Square is composed of attractions that line up to follow a chronological and geographical story.

They could just let Frontierland be a vibe. Tho, renaming it would have quelled the need for everything to fit in a tidy linear story.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to catch a steam paddle boat from 1770's Philadelphia.

They were competing e ticket visuals (space and tron do the same thing now) so that alone was messy.

Splash nor Tianas fit thematically in “Frontierland” - both were designed with Disneyland in mind.

That’s why I said it was “messy” - it’s not really a problem. Many things at Disney make no sense and just work. See a monorail passing by the Matterhorn for example.

My impression of Disneyland is that there is very little separation between themes. Everything kinda blurs together. They seemed to have gone to greater lengths when they built the Magic Kingdom to have each land self contained but over the years they haven't held to it - especially when Splash was added.

i would say Disneyland has more separation, not less.

Paris is the ultimate gold standard of course when it comes to framing what you see from each land and each area.
