From what I've seen...

Beauty and the Beast = New Show
Mermaid = New Ride

Again, don't leap to any conclusions just yet

Just throwing my .02 in here but I would much rather them move One Man's Dream to where VOTLM resides and use the old OMD space + Narnia space for Pixar Place.

There really isnt enough space in the mermaid theater for a ride or dark ride even is there?

There is a bit of room behind Little Mermaid, but the largest building in that area is the Animation Tour. Also, One Man's Dream is substantially larger than Mermaid as well.

It's Journey of the Little Mermaid, not Voyage. Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you start ranting.

straight from the article on the Walt Disney World Website:

In late 2012, be there for the arrival of Fantasyland Forest, where you can join Ariel and friends on the new Under the Sea: The Voyage of The Little Mermaid attraction; take part in an immersive experience with Belle; and dine in the Beast's Castle at the Be Our Guest restaurant.

Maybe you should know what you are talking about before trying to correct people :D

Quit naming everything like its a sequel.

:ROFLOL:That's so true!!! Imagine if they had always done it this way! We'd have attractions today with names like...

Spaceship Earth Adventure in Communication
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Wildest Ride in the Wilderness
Star Tours of A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away
Eternal Ring of the Flying Dumbos
Tomorrowland Transit Authority WEDway PeopleMover Tramway
Jungle Cruise Through the Rivers of Timeless Adventure

I almost thought you could nae rides the same thing and save on generic merch....

The long titles don't bother me, we all shorten them anyway. nd then if you change the ride later, you can just change the secondary tag line like a movie sequel.

Maybe they could just replace The Little Mermaid Show.

There are still plenty of untapped Disney Properties that could fit into that space.

Agreed. I mean, i like the show and all, but with the new ride will we really need it. There's a lot of things i'd like to see get some park representation and a show can work out for so many different things.

The official Walt Disney World website is not know for being a bastion of accurate information. The announced name has been Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. Disney's inability to accurately communicate, such as this shows, will be the source of guest confusion.

I've worked on some retail products.

The thought behind long names is a trademark/copyright issue.

You name it "Under the Sea", and a name search will find some little aquarium shop somewhere that will sue or something.

The longer the name is, the better chance it has of being unique, and you don't have to do as thorough a legal search.

At least, that's how it worked for some of the things I worked on.

If thats true then thats prob why its long but they wouldnt need a long name if it included a character name or the little mermaid since disney owns the rights

One's a ride, the other a show. One's at MK, the other DHS. I'm sure most people will be able to handle that.....

You ever heard those folks that stand in the middle of MGM yelling at a CM that they KNOW Jaws used to be here...where is it??? No, it's not at another park.

Gosh, that's gonna get even worse now, when Jaws isn't anywhere anymore :(

No, but then I don't listen to the braying of others at the parks either....

I've been hearing "journey" not "voyage" but either way, it's really similar.

The average guest is really NOT educated and WILL be confused. We get asked a lot (we're not CMs but I guess we look like we know what we're doing) where a ride is and it's in a different park, or it's at Universal. The best is when people INSIST that a Universal ride is a Disney ride. I have a friend who goes to WDW frequently who INSISTS that Mr. Toad is STILL at WDW. I could not convince him it's gone from WDW now. I've also had very heated arguments about which countries are and are not at WS.

It may be that people are so stupid that even if they names were completely dissimilar, like one was "Ariel's Awesome Dark Ride" and the other one was "Little Mermaid Show", people would still mix them up and show up at the show asking "is this a ride?"

Exactly my point! After TSMM opened, they had to quickly change the name of Pizza Planet from Toy Story Pizza Planet and take away the Buzz and Woody outside the building because people kept going to the restaurant thinking it was the ride.....I am not saying that these people are stupid or uneducated because I am sure that most of them are rather smart at home, its just when they come here, they don't expect to have to think, so when they hear that the new ride is ________ of the Little Mermaid they will get confused.
