I was always curious, do young locals, i.e. middle to HS age kids use it DS as a typical hang out location, similar to a regular mall? I have never actually noticed large groups of them hanging out there, but it just seems like the perfect place to do so if i was that age and lived in the area

There's not much for them to do there that they couldn't do somewhere easier to access for less money.

If they're making the trek to just wander around and loiter in groups on a regular basis, they'll end up getting trespassed sooner or later.

Honestly, if I were a teen or pre-teen local, DS as it is today would probably be pretty low on my list of place I'd want to be, anyway. There are far more interesting options for that group in the area.

Back when it was DTD, Pleasure Island and Westside, they did have some problems with that which I'm guessing has a lot to do with some of the choices made for the design of DS.

It was a somber day when I walked into the M&M's store at DS and realized I could no longer afford M&Ms.
The M&M store has no choice but to charge what they charge in order to pay the insane rent at DS plus the revenue share the M&M store must pay Disney.

Go to your local grocery stores that survive on 2 percent margins and get your M&Ms there.
