Port Orleans December Booking

I called today to have my Port Orleans - Riverside reservation moved one week later in December (Dec 4-10) and was told that both Port Orleans resorts were fully booked for that time frame. I understand that they may limit the number of free dining packages at each resort, but come on you can't tell me this is an itellegent course of action when you are seeing double digit drops in attendence. I can't believe that there will be that many people there in early December, a traditionally low period for the parks.

As a frequent WDW guest this upset me that there guests are not able to book the resorts they want when I am sure there are plenty of rooms available.

It seems like the PO resorts fill up rather quick even without discounts. I tried desperately to get into either one for just two nights in February of this year to no avail. I ended up in CSR those two nights (and greatly enjoyed it) but I soo wanted to try POFQ.
Keep trying though, cancellations happen!

That time is during POP Warner football & cheerleader tournament, and many of the cheerleader groups stay at POR. They will not be leaving until the 12th or 13th. We are arriving late on the 11th to POR. We usually do not see the midget football teams there, they usually are at the value resorts, but the cheerleaders have a large presence at POR, at least in other years we have been there. Try POFQ.

Actually this year the cheerleaders are not staying at POR, they are staying at CSR and the All star resorts.

Don't forget that POFQ is the smallest of the moderates so it does fill up the fastest. And yes they do only have a certain number of rooms that they set aside for the dining plan promotion and they would have been taken from the rooms that were not already booked when they decided to put that promotion out there. I've actually had my room booked at POFQ for 10 months and I'm going from Dec 1-9.

I'm not sure how many people you've got traveling with you, but there wasn't anything for Dec. 4-10, but did find a king bed at POFQ for Dec. 5-11. Maybe if you can change your dates by the day and not the week, you may be able to find something.:shrug:

Neither of the Port Orleans resorts are available even on a NON-discounted reservation on those dates (just tried it myself to see). The resorts are full, period. Has nothing to do with the discount. (Though Disney does have the right to limit the number of discounts available for each hotel... They *are* a business after all...) POFQ and POR are typically the two favorite Moderate resorts in online polls (and with good reason, IMO), so it's not unexpected that they'll fill up first.

The only Moderate with availability I could see under Free Dining on those dates is Caribbean Beach.

The sheer number of Pop Warner guests will affect moderate resort availability no matter which resort they primarilly use.
If Pop Warner guests fill up CBR, then other guests begin to fill up the other moderate resorts to the point where reservations are difficult to get.
Add the 'free' dining offer to that scenario and it gets really tough.

Thanks for all of the responses, I am going to keep trying. I was just quite suprised, because we were there in May and it didn't seem that full even though there were no rooms available. It definitely is our favorite moderate, but who can stay upset when either way you are still going to be at WDW!
