Photo Pass and Magic Shots

We are leaving for Disney on Sunday and we purchased Disney Photo Pass. Can someone please explain the process of using it. I understand that it is on our Magic Bands. Do I just walk up to a Disney photographer and ask to have our picture taken? Can someone also please explain Magic Shots. Is it something that I have to ask the photographer for? Are Magic Shots only available at certain locations? Thank you for your help. :cat:

Yes, you just walk up to any Disney photographer and ask. There will usually be a line of other guests waiting. After taking the pictures, the photographer will scan your band. The pictures will appear shortly thereafter in your MDE account.

Not all photographers do Magic shots. You will know if you are posing for one of you are asked to hold your hands a certain way, point downward, reach upward, etc. A Disney character friend will appear in the finished photo. We like to be surprised and never request a Magic shot in advance, but you can certainly ask.

If you search "Magic shots" in this forum there is a thread with info on locations for them.

After our last 2 trips, I would advise that you check your PhotoPass pictures often throughout the trip so you can see if any pictures are missing or if they forgot to add the magic shot component. We had to go back and redo a few because something was wrong with the little gadget the photographer uses so it actually wasn't saved anywhere in the system. It's easier to fix while you're there. We had to go to their place in Disney Springs and look through all of the pictures during that time frame in the park and ours were just gone. But we do love the convenience of PhotoPass and enjoy trying to get all of the magic shots.

I agree, check as you go. I was really disappointed that our picture from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train never showed up. This was one of the only Roller Coasters may daughter was able to ride and I didn't end up getting a picture from it for some reason.

If that happens again in the future (or if you just returned from your trip in the last few weeks) you can call or e-mail Photopass and ask them to find your shots. The more information you can give them (date, approximate time, what you were wearing, etc.), the better but they're pretty good at finding your missing shots. I've had to do it almost every time we've used Memory Maker and they've always found them.
