Original Tiki-room vid

Y'all recently helped me with the Country Bears original uncut show. Thank you very much. I love this site.

That prompted me to think about the original Tiki Room. I think I found an audio version a ways back, but I can't find what I did with it.

I wonder if any of you can point me to a vid of the original Tiki Room. I think the original full-length version never came to WDW - I'm not entirely sure - so if would have to be the DL original (am I wrong?).

Anyway, I'd appreciate any help in locating it!

It wasn’t just Disneyland’s version, the full, uncut show (at that time at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, was called The Tropical Serenade starring The Enchanted Tiki Birds) was shown til it’s closure in ‘98 to make way for Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management, that same year. Hope that helps.

DL’s is this same full original show for the most part. With the exception of the “Offenbach” number being cut in the mid 2000s I believe. Unlike WDW MK’s current iteration which shortens & cuts out far more.

Thanks so much Inspired Figment. That's just what I was looking for.

I seem to remember hearing years ago that in the very very beginning of the DL version that there were some extra scenes, but I can no longer find that reference. Oh well, maybe it was just my imagination.

Thanks again!

If memory serves (without Googling) it was in the mid 1990's that the Offenbach number was cut from Disneyland, along with Fritz's line "You stay offen by back, and I'll stay offen yours". This was at the same time Disneyland added new audio infrastructure, like subwoofers in the side walls and new speakers around the room, that didn't exist in the 1960's and dramatically improved the sound of the show.

The only thing removed from the Disneyland version was that Offenbach piece from '63, along with some dialogue from the four host birds leading into and out of that number. Otherwise, the Disneyland show is still exactly as it was in 1963.

Of course, if you pay $100 to take the official "Keys To The Kingdom" guided tour at WDW, the official WDW tour guide will tell you all sorts of lies. My personal favorite from lying WDW tour guides who are pooly trained and badly managed is that the Tiki Room opened in 1963 at Disneyland as a dinner show, but was shut down shortly after opening because diners thought they were real birds and they didn't want to sit underneath birds who might poop in their teriyaki chicken.

But then, that's Disney World management for you. 🤣

1) If they're trained incorrectly, that doesn't make them 'liars', it makes them misinformed and like you said badly trained.
2) Walt envisioned it as a dinner show. That's fact. It didn't open as one because Walt was worried the guests would stay too long.

Doesnt the album have all the original songs and music. I know its not video but would be extra good audio quality. And is avail on most streaming services.

well most of that is kind of true just out of order and misconstrued. Like @Kamikaze said the original idea was a dinner show, but never happened. And the part of pooping is true as well, because there was talks of being real birds, but the fear of pooping among other things made them go to audio animatronics. So the things were discussed, they just never actually happened.
