I assume everyone knows about this sweepstakes. So I started reading the offical rules, to look up some dates or something, and I saw this odd rule. #7 WINNERS, near the bottom, it says " Each Canadian resident who is a potential winner will be required to answer correctly a mathematical skill testing question without assistance of any kind whether mechanical or otherwise to be declared a winner and be eligible to collect a prize." Look it up. Am I reading it wrong or what. Is it a joke?

I, too, thought this was a joke and then went and read it for myself. This seems like one of the oddest statements/requirements I've ever seen! Maybe Canada has rules about winning sweepstakes... Like you need to have some level of intelligence to win? Probably not, but the statement is so far-fetched it's the only thing I can think of LOL!

Yes, Canadians have weird rules about sweepstakes. There is a requirement to have a skill testing question answered.

We can win a lottery no problem, but if there is any form of non-monetary prize the question is required.

On the other hand, we don't have to pay any taxes on winnings. :king:

So apparently there is a law in Canada that prohibits chance based contests. The way around this is to require a potential winner answer a skill testing question, most frequently a mathematical question. See below:

Who knew?!

EDIT: I must type REALLY slow since 2 posts jumped in with the same info while I was typing!!

Canada DOES have a law pertaining to sweepstakes. It requires that a "skill" question be answered so that winning is not pure luck. But the skill question is usually something like "What is 2 + 2?". If you google "Why Do Canadian Sweepstakes Ask Skill Testing Questions?" you will get more info. Truth is stranger than fiction!

What I find most strange is not the law, which I can to some extent grasp the reason for, but the fact that asking such an easy "skill-based" questions allows circumvention of that law.

While the question can still be "easy", it has to have at least three operations to actually be "skill testing"; for example, a sample question is "(2 × 4) + (10 × 3)" (Answer: 38). So, "What's 2 + 2" is an exaggeration...

Congratulations, you have won a Walt Disney World vacation!

Excellent! Clearly my odds were better entering with you than through the sweepstakes. :king:

How will you be financing my vacation [just so I can let them know when I book]?

I have been trying to enter since it was announced...since the NIGHT it was announced. Every time I click on the "enter now" button it just sits and sits and sits and doesn't down load what I need to enter.

If anyone knows the magic potion for me to get in and enter, please PM me :)

Try more than one browser. Use Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome or Firefox. One of them should work for you.

Also, be sure that you have script and popup blockers turned off. They can cause issue as that page has some scripts in it.

If you're on a mobile device (iPad), it won't work. On a desktop or laptop, you shouldn't have the same problem. And if you were having the problem on a desktop or laptop...well, then I don't have any helpful hints.

What I find funny is that it says " Getting the answer wrong is not an obstacle to claiming a prize." So I guess it won't matter if the Canadians are math wizards or not.
I've been entering every day and had one day where it wouldn't accept my entry after trying multiple tries. So I left frustrated, then went back to the site and tried later on in the day and got my entry accepted right away.
Good Luck to all who enter.

I have only been able to get them to run using IE and I normally use chrome but chrome freezes on my. You may also want to clear your cache as well.
