New Book About Walt Disney

Just wanted to share that there is a new biography about Walt Disney to be released tomorrow. It's titled "Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination" by Neal Gabler.

You can listen to an interview of the author with Terry Gross of NPR's Fresh Air on their website. I was listening to it this afternoon and I'm very excited to get the book. I found his thoughts on how Mickey Mouse has come to be less of an iconic cartoon character and more of a corporate logo to be very interesting.

I was very surprised to hear that Walt's wife was not very supportive of his ideas such as Snow White and the building of Disneyland. He was approached by one of his employees asking for more money saying that his wife thought he should make more money. Walt's response? "Your wife? Do you know where I'd be if I listened to my wife?":lol:
