Hello, My name is Eric Jones and I recently lost my job of 12 years. I figured what better time than now to do something I enjoy. I want to become a travel agent, specifically a Disney travel agent.I'm not looking for a job (unless you have something) just looking for advice about how one becomes an agent. What schooling I should enroll in, any classes i should take, any books to read. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!

One important note, which may have been covered in one of those threads above, but which bears repeating - it takes time to build a clientele, and many people you are planning trips for won't travel for 3, 6 or 9 months or even more - and you don't get paid until after they travel.

If you are currently unemployed, you'll need money to keep you fed etc until the income from your trips comes in, and it won't be much - for a few years.

Any courses you can take in sales and marketing would be extremely beneficial. Don't expect to mostly sit at home in front of a computer planning trips - that is actually the easiest part of the job - the hard part is finding your clients. They don't just show up and hand you their deposit to book.
