How realistic is this?

Hey folks,

We're planning a trip to WDW in September 2014 for our anniversary, and are considering renting DVC points. Ideally we'd be there for anywhere from 10-12 nights, and would love to stay at the Villas at GF when it opens or MK view at BLT.

Any thoughts on how realistic this is?

My opinion which counts for absolutely nothing, I would say is unrealistic. Everyone will be wanting to rent points. Being as the 11 month window is not that far away, I'd say most new owners would want the place for themselves and not to rent out. But I've been wrong on a few occasions.

Why not try a split stay? If one of the MK DVC's is unavailable, try something over by EPCOT (BWV or BCV).

You should be able to rent BLT points but I would look into doing it right at the 11 month window. Not sure how many people who own at VGF will want to rent their points out in the first year so you would probably have to wait until the 7 month window which means you may not get BLT either if VGF doesn't work out. Depends on whether you think it's worth the gamble. If you find a nice BLT renter they may be willing to rent you their points for BLT but still check on availability for you at the 7 month mark for VGF and if available potentially switch the reservation, but that would be up to the individual owner.

Good advice all the way around. We're definitely going to get our request in right at the 11 month mark, and are willing to split into 2 stays if necessary. Thanks!

Yea I agree I would definately do it at the 11 month window and go for BLT since there probably won't be GF points to rent and if so very few

Renting BLT should be easy. VGF, not sure as it's so new. But certainly doable. There are a few rent/trade forums at a couple of message board sites as well as a few professional renting companies who do a fabulous job. This shouldn't be hard.

Probably wont happen at VGF but very possible at BLT. Give David a call at the 11 month mark. He would be your best bet.
