DVC expansion?

what sort of on site and off site expansions would you like to see?

For me:

property at DLP, TDL, HKDL

as well as DVC cabins on DCL.

Also an off-site property in Colorado.

Off-site locations sound tempting but we've yet to even seriously consider Vero or HHI. I'm content using our points at the theme park locations. On the occasions when we want to vacation elsewhere, I'm content looking for a good deal and paying cash.

I have no objections to DVCs being added to any of the worldwide parks or even DCL. :sohappy: Ownership issues and international laws may eliminate some destinations. But if Disney can find a way to make it happen, it will certainly increase the likelihood of our visiting those destinations.

I wouldn't be surprized that they would add them to the world parks, in fact this fall they are opening one at the Grand California in DL.

As to outside the parks, I'm sure they are going to be really picky. They are building the one's in Hawaii, so they might wait a few years till that one opens and see how it sells.

Cruise line cabins would be nice

Not the ability that we have today to trade points, at a poor rate, for cruises, but actual DVC owned cabins.

Of course a concept like that has a LOT of things to work out, but I still like the sound of it.

Has anyone tried to trade the points into other properties thru RCI? I've tried several times and been uanble to get anything decent, they list lots of properties, but they are not avaialble. Wanted to got to HH this year, couldnt get in to Disneys HH and was unable to trade into one of the 6 lsited properties thru RCI, so had to go thru a rental agency there, and got into one of the porperties lsited in RCI, jsut not available for trading. Very disappointing!

I got an online questionnaire from Disney sometime last year, asking where we would like to see additional DVC resorts. One of the picks was outside of Las Vegas. There was a section to write in comments, I wrote in that it should be in Las Vegas. I think Vegas could use a very family friendly place like a DVC. Vegas is not at all like it use to be, more and more families are heading there on vacation.

We just got back from Vegas on sunday and while it isnt what it used to be, I dont think its Disney Family Quality ready yet. Just my opinion, but I wouldnt think that as one of their top priorities.

BTW, I have a DVC at BLT.

We just got back from Vegas on sunday and while it isnt what it used to be, I dont think its Disney Family Quality ready yet.

The survey did specifically state that the DVC property would be about 30 minutes off the Strip. I think Disney was shooting for a sort of "best of both worlds"--close enough to the action yet also insulated.

But personally I would also disagree with any family-friendly vibe coming from Vegas. They tried appealing to families about 10-15 years ago and quickly went back to "what happens in Vegas..."

I certainly wouldn't label myself a prude, but I won't be caught walking the Strip with my young kids. I don't need them asking about the 50' billboards featuring thong-wearing women or the plethora of strip club & prostitution flyers that litter street corners.

The problem with Vegas as a DVC destination is that people seeking the "Vegas experience" don't want to be 30 minutes away from the action. And families who want a more wholesome destination will still bristle at the thought of Vegas even if it's marketed as being insulated.

Want to go to Vegas? Just leave the kids at home! There are many other destinations more worthy of Disney's dollars.

Yes exactly. Id rather have DVC resorts for DLP, HK, and Tokyo. Where they would be put to good use going to a park or being used Disney wise. What is in Vegas thats Disney related. I understad theres nothing in Hawaii, but that is a much more family friendly place than Vegas will ever be.
