Disney AP Problem

I don't know where to post this but here is my dilemma.

I have 3 AP holder's in my family. Me , Wife, and a 12 year old child. I tried to book 9 rooms(1 AP good up to 3 rooms each) for a girls softball team going to a tournament @ WWOS Complex. But for some reason they won't let me use my 12 year old daughters AP to get good room rates because they say she is under 18 to book the room. My feeling is if she has an adult AP then she should get the Adult AP privilege of getting the room rates too.

I bring this up because I know she can't book the room without a CC but she should be able to get the discount with me using my CC to reserve the room. I talked with one CM(forgot name) but he looked up this and said there is no problem with her using the AP to get rate as long as she is staying on the same resort I am. But he never mentioned age was an issue.

But this one CM I talked to today said I couldn't use my daughter's AP. So now I am going back and forth and just need some more conformation on using my daughter's AP. I just wish when buying her AP they would classify her and a Child AP not as an Adult AP.

I want my Team to feel the magic this summer but not feel the pinch. If we can't get this rate we would have to move off-site and I know how much fun that won't be as it would be on site.

Is there somewhere in writing to show me the rules of the AP?
Which CM was right?

Well, I really have no formal answer to your question, but I do have an idea. Try calling Disney back and ask to speak to a manager. Explain to them the situation (with emphasis on the fact that this either makes or breaks your reservation with a Disney hotel) and I think they may be willing to bend a little.

I think the argument isn't valid. You are making the reservation for her and you will be present. If you weren't going on the trip, I would definitely side with Disney not letting you book it. However, that isn't the case.

Try calling again. Some people making the reservations are more willing to help out.

How did they know she was 12, btw? Is it in the pass information? Perhaps you will get lucky and they will overlook the fact.

I will try these suggestions because right now i can get rooms for about 65.00 compared to about 120.00 Big difference for us. They saw she was 12 because of what they have on record from last February.

I totally understand. I'm always looking to cut more and more off my Disney trip costs, and end up saving a HUGE amount by being persistent.

When are you going and how long will yo be there? Just wondered if it might be possible that another adult might be willing to buy an AP to get that great rate? I needed 3 rooms but everyone in our group decided that it was a break even /savings to get the ap's as we will be at WDW for 10 days/9 nights with only 1 day trip to the beach.

Good luck in getting the room and good luck in the tournament! Keep us posted!

They are going June 23 thru June 29. Tournament starts on the 24th. Another adult buying an AP would be a good idea, except for the fact that there will be a lot of time spend at the wide world of sports complex - I think they are guaranteed to play 4 games, if they win they will play more. Soooo it may not be a good idea just to buy the AP for the room discount when you look at it like that.

I'm trying to talk them into buying me an airline ticket, that way I would make the reservation for the other 3 rooms, spend the day in the parks and fly back home. No one is biting yet.......

When you use an AP to book a ressie it has to be under the AP holders name, and Disney requires the AP name on the ressie to be over 18. It is a valid argument on their end....

Try asking Pam, see what she can do for you...

My advice is either calling WDW Reservations again until you get a CM who will let you, or calling the Hotel directly. When you call directly, usually they seem to be happier to assist you. :D

I didn't know we could call the hotel directly. Anyone got the number for Pop Century or All Stars.

Will this really work? I thought you had to go thru central reservations.

Trust me, they're ways around central reservations. ;)

Pop-Century's number is (407) 938-4000

Depending on who you get, they will either take the reservation, or transfer you to central.

Hope everything works out...

Good customer service has been lacking lately when it comes to people in reservations....the new system is terrible....

Their argument makes not sense to me...you paid an amount of money for an adult AP for your daughter who is 12 (because to Disney kids are 3-9)...why is it that they are quick to take your money...but not quick to give you the discount????? Anyway just my opinion.

Good luck!

Not being allowed to make a ressie would be one of the few times kids over 9 are actually treated like children. I HATE paying adult restaurant prices for my 12 yr old - no way does she eat that much - she barely eats the childs portion! Kids 12 + get charged full price - that's not fair either.

I don't think you're referring to Disney's restaurants, but I just wanted to mention that my sister (who's 16, and looks 16) has been allowed to order off the children's menu at every Disney restaurant we've visited.

But I am, try making a PS for a restaurant and they want to know the age of the child in the group.

Yes, when we walk into one of the on site restaurants w/o a PS, we don't have a problem.

Last year we had PS for the Garden Grill (part of of Candlelight Processional package) and Whispering Canyon Cafe and both places asked for her age.

I see. Perhaps I’m being naïve, but I don’t know how that would affect your ability to order off the children’s menu. I highly doubt they relay your children’s age to your waiter. Even if they did, merely explain that your daughter doesn’t eat that much and would like to order off the children’s menu. We’ve done this many times without a problem.

You have to pay in advance for a priority seating candlelight dinner package. I told them then that she couldnt' eat an adult meal and they said sorry she's 12....so I ended up paying for three adults (3 months prior to the show) when there was only 2.

You weren't being naive, I just didn't give you all the information.
