Rumor Could we see an Alien attraction come to the parks?

Honestly though...
Buying FOX was only to expand their streaming options to subscribers....
Dis will Never use a Fox IP in any of their parks..... especially in North America.

Just not going to happen folks. Sorry....
Owning the rights to Star Wars: Episode IV was also a major motivation, I think.

Avatar and X-Men were likely the two biggest IP incentives, followed closely behind by those Simpsons streaming rights.
And Hulu stake, Star Wars rights, Fox Marvel rights, Disney+ content library in general, IP to diversify offerings, removing a competitor, acquiring talent, etc.

I ALWAYS felt that Disney should’ve bought Warner instead. Even at the time for Warner Bros. purchased by AT&T (which I also felt never made sense for AT&T), to be priced less than Fox was so laughable it almost reeks corruption and backhanded deals.

Where as some deals like Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Apple buying Beats, I have no issue with. Spirit should’ve been alllowed to be bought out, same with iRobot.

Why we have allowed our meatpacking to consolidate into like 5 players is beyond me. As a society, I’m not old enough to have influenced this but what exactly happened with apathy in general towards getting ripped off from like the 80s to 00s?😂

And some mergers are lesser of two evils, Paramount buying Warner is way better for theaters and the industry than if Netflix had bought them, same with Comcast over Netflix. I also don’t think Paramount or Warner’s streaming business really work without a merger tbh, as now they’ll be able to compete head on with Disney and Netflix. Amazon/Apple seem to be content with their own niche.

Big picture I’m kind of concerned for Peacock and Universal. Honestly Apple buying Universal would actually be a pretty good combo, though I doubt r Comcast would shed an asset that they prize, plus the parks business is exploding while Comcast’s core business model is collapsing, so they need it.

Still, Fox will be a net positive long-term so I’ll give Iger that.

You’re a bit behind here in your view of streaming…

About 5 years ago Wall Street cut through the hype and made their views known: its not a gold mine…

The remaining media conglomerates have spent that time since trying to spin it and no one is buying

It absolutely is, I don’t really care what Wall Street short term corporatists with no vision think.

Disney’s mistake was they overpaid for Fox and they just flooded the market with billions worth of slop instead of being more precise with content.

The pivot to streaming was always a good one and maybe it took COVID accelerating it, or whatever, but big picture D2C is the answer for their movies, video games, merch, whatever, alongside pumping money in parks, and it pushed them in the right direction.

Their execution was the issue, but they do seem to be learning so we’ll see.

Tis not…you are way outdated if you believe in Wall Street “long termists”. That ended 30 years ago.

That was one of the mistakes…not the biggest one though

Twas not. They didn’t have a choice…but the money men liked the linear model better because it limited costs by dispersal and had a captive audience. Almost zero competition. Stream has done the opposite.
Their execution was the issue, but they do seem to be learning so we’ll see.
Not really…the only thing that really keeps a captive audience is original content. Which is expensive and exhausting. The bobs already cried about it years ago. What is actually coming to D+ and Hulu in 2026?

Almost nothing…but hey…you can watch Mulan again
