Coronado Springs building numbers

Ok - stupid question. Please don’t hit me with “they just are”. Is there a rational reason that the buildings at Coronado Springs are numbered 6a, 6b, 7a, 7c, etc. and not just numerically 1-12? It doesn’t affect me in the least, but I’ve been curious.

Also, is 9a officially being renumbered 8c? I’ve seen it both ways recently.

Thanks!

Great question but not sure why because casitas go one through five. Maybe to give the guests a perception that there is only 8 buildings so the resort is not that big. And yes, 9a is changing to 8c. Not sure why

It's joining the 8-series buildings since 9B was eliminated for the tower.
