Complaining about Castle Transformations

I brought this up in another thread, but I figured it needed to be it's own thread...

Everyone needs to settle down about how they did not like the different transformations that Disney has tried on their castles! I think it is unbelievable what Disney has been able to accomplish with their anniversaries and transformation of the castles.

1) If someone was there for the very first time and really wanted to see the original castle, then come back in a year or two when it returns, don't let some fun imagination ruin your experience at the parks!

2) As for Stitch, for all of you who have seen Lilo and Stitch that IS Stitch! He's mischeivious, you all have seen the previews. He was in all the other Disney movies and caused all sorts of havok! What better way for him to make his debut at the Magic Kingdom?

3) If you don't like the different ways that Disney tries to "spice" up the parks with, then go to Universal for all I care, that is what you are asking for... I mean how often do you see those parks all decked out for anniversaries?

I don't need people complaining about how much they dislike what Disney is doing to ruin my time at the parks. For once try accepting what they do, you'll appreciate it much more.

That being said, I've never hated the Castle Cake. :D

50th anniversary Castle looks good. . .

TPing would have been better had Stitch lived up to that hype. . .

. . . but for goodness sakes don't say the SE wand is "permanent." Leaves no hope. :)

Otherwise, if people really can't stand what Disney is doing, they are entitled to have and post that feeling in my opinion.

So therefore a double post is needed???

IMO you made yourself clear enough... You're being appriciated for that...

But it's not a matter what you need or not, This is a forum, and everyone may complain or praise as much as and as often that person wants... :) :D

It's been said... lots of times... if one doesn't like what one reads, skip the thread...

I completely agree, this is a message board, a place to discuss/debate ideas, likes and dislikes. If you don't like what you see, then simply don't read it. I don't think this subject required its own new thread!

Many people come to message boards such as this to complain about things being done to their favorite theme park, for you to ask people to not complain, is like asking them not to breath, this is an outlet for them, so let them speak their mind. If you don't like it, then don't read it and move on.

We appreciate your input, but for you to tell people that it is inappropriate to speak their mind.... Well its a little inconsiderate don't you think?

I find the 50th anniversary castle kind of offensive because of the gold statues of the Disney characters. Bronze is bad too. I don't any beef with silver or other materials. I think though that this castle will offend the mono-theistic faith. That means it will probably offend Christians, Jews, and Muslims mainly due to what is written in the 10 commandments. And the fact of what happened on Mount Sinai.

OMG

How the heck did we get to this point about the castle design? :veryconfu

As a bad catholic school boy... I find the hat offensive in MGM... it reminds me of the Pope's hat.

:p ;)

Sheesh.

Those are 3 of the most loaded statements I've ever seen :)

I agree that everyone should have the right to voice opinions on the castle transformations, however, I do agree with the statement that change is good. I like seeing different castle transformations, even the castle cake. Okay, it may not have been the prettiest, or the coloring may have been off, but one has to admit that it was pretty cool how they took such a large building, with an incredibly unusual shape, and completely turn it into a cake. I think that the creativity and scope behind it was amazing!!! And I am sure everyone remembers their visit on WDW 25th because of it! It really does stand out from other WDW vacations. I think that it really did its job, and a year later, we got our castle back, looking more beautiful than ever!!!

The castle isn't going anywhere anytime soon, its fun to see the castle become part of a celebration. It's much better than watching to castle fade and fall into disrepair, like what happened in California for the past ten years!!!!!

I love seeing the variety, and what a creative mind can do to something like a castle!!!! and it keeps the maintenance on the castle as a priority!!

I apologize for "complaining about the complaints" (I don't mean to be redundant) and you all are right, it is a forum and you should be able to express whatever you want. All that I'm saying is that it just seems like Disney can't do enough for a group of Disney Fanatics. It just bugged me and so I posted. Like you said, it's a messege board, if you don't like it, skip the thread.

Funny you should bring this up. I was at a cocktail party over the weekend and I started discussing how I was a Disney Dork with this guy, and he began sharing with me a story of how he was involved in a wedding at the Wedding Pavillion at the Grand Floridian.

Well, we started laughing because he said that the wedding pavillion has a window that overlooks the castle. So you get married on a stage in front of this window. Well the year they had the birthday cake theme, so many brides were upset and complained about the cake theme, including the bride of the wedding he was in, that Disney covered up the window with a stained glass version of the castle as long as the birthday cake theme was up. And I realized how a person could be upset if you booked the place months if not a year or two in advance expecting to see the castle in the distance, only to see that cake.

So, I do understand why some people would be upset with any "drastic" change to the appearance of the castle. Some people aren't lucky to visit WDW frequently and are expecting that classic castle. It's kind of like if I ever flew to India to see the Tah Mahal. I'd be very upset if the appearance were changed so drastically from the original design I was expecting.

You're definitely entitled to your opinion and you do make some good points, but I'm sure you could understand the opposing opinions as well.

Hmmmm....yup. If I were a bride and I saw that through the window at the wedding pavillion, someone's head would definitely be rolling. Maybe even Mickey's.

What if someone saved up all his life just to see the castle in all its glory just to find a cake standing there instead? You might be one lucky guy for being able to visit more often but not everyone are as lucky as you.

My only complaint with the new, hopefully temporary, castle design is that they end up having construction on it for such long periods of time. I'll be there in February and May, and now I'm kind of worried that the castle will be all boarded up come February.

I think the major difference between the cake and the current planned transformation is that the new one very much compliments what is already there--the entire castle (save for the part covered by the "window") is still visible. The gold also compliments the blue of the turrets nicely. As for the cake, what the Imagineers were trying to do was essentially create something new in the place of the castle for a year. Actually, I think it was a pretty nice concept. If it just hadn't been so darn PINK!. It wasn't just pink, it was PINK!. As for the length of time required for the transformation, I really don't see it taking too long. It doesn't appear that they're painting anything, and all of the elements can be fabricated beforehand. What's going to take the longest is just putting the elements on, which I'm guessing will take a few weeks at absolute most. I doubt they'll need much scaffolding to accomplish this (but I'm no engineer). As for the religous connotation of the gold statues, I think we're reading into this just a little bit too much.

I never thought about that and it would be quite disappointing if that were to happen. I suppose that if I ever were to get married at the pavilion, I would definately want the classic fairytale castle that is Disney. Thanks for bringing that up.

Yeah that would suck!! If I paid the rediculous amount ranging from $20,000-$50,000 they're asking to get married at the wedding pavillion. And after having to schedule it so far in advance, you damn well better believe I would want the original castle up there. I just couldn't imagine how those people felt during the year they had the "PINK nightmare", I'm sure they were beyond ed at that point.

Hell I wouldn't lie to ya, I would expect some type of refund, for not getting EXACTLY what I was paying for.

This is what I would be paying for:
