I really thought that, since yesterday was April 1st, we would receive an opening date announcement—maybe even as a joke about it not being an April Fools’ prank.

BlogMickey has photos of new construction walls going up along side Piston Peak, behind where the current walls are by Big Thunder. Looks like the walls blocking off Big Thunder might be coming down soon!

They also seem to be mentioning something I haven't seen anywhere before: Actual gold out on the mountain for the first time ever. Has this been confirmed? Do we know anything about this?

the original earthquake/tunnel collapse scene on the final lift hill had a gold vein opening up....but that effect went away decades ago.....

See here:

Winter continued, "We see these beautiful rainbow caverns. Then all of a sudden comes to life as the mountain pushes back against you and maybe finally seeing some gold out on the mountain for the first time ever."

Sorry to see the change in paint scheme for the train cars.
The yellowish color with ‘wooden’ crossbar patterned wood was iconic.
Surprised this was decided to be changed.
Don’t really see a need, except removing more color from the world…which seems to be a trend now.

Hoping for the best however with the refresh.
Will be interested to hear if the track was smoothed out too much, removing the ‘rough n’ tumble’ feel of the designers original intent.
Also of course interested in seeing what has been repaired / returned / and added to the experience.

Yee haw!
