Aqueduct/Water Bridge to Contemporary and MK

Enigma

Account Suspended
Something that has bothered me for years is the lack of attention given to the aqueduct roadway tunnel (connecting Bay Lake and 7 Seas). Compare this tunnel to the one between the Boardwalk and Beach Club. It's a night and day comparison.

I know there are bigger issues at the parks, but seriously, this is one of the main passageways into the MK. Nobody wants to see exposed water pipes and grey stone wall on their way into the most magical place on earth (Although busses were never supposed to take you to the MK entrance to begin with). If WDW wants to get all consistent and "global," lets not forget to apply that concept to things like this.

My rant ends here.

It smells bad when you drive by with the windows open sometimes like a toilet.

I think that the water bridge is an attraction unto itself and any added themeing would be money wasted. I'd much rather they spend the cash on the soon-to-come monorail expansion.

Pulllleeze. First off, Universal pales in comparison as does any other amusement enterprise.

Disney purist? Don't flatter yourself or self annoint yourself in that category. Counting down the days until your next trip and dreaming about seeing Main Street is one thing. Outright complaining that a highway underpass ought to be "Disney themed" and that anyone who doesnt share the same POV has "questionable values" is downright cultish, IMHO. Why not use that stupid Internet driven petition website that nobody cares about? Maybe start a worthless letter writing campain titled something cute like "Pipe It Under" or some other cutesy name that does nothing to help the "cause".

Since I don't understand how important this is, I can only guess this is the next logical step to take in the process? I'm only a casual vacationer without a soul, so I'm relying on you to get this in place for my next trip!!

God bless the Internet! :ROFLOL: You are pointing a finger at me and calling into question my "Disney values" (whatever that is) simply becuase I wonder why anyone would even care about a pipe and an underpass?

 Ummm, there is a "cause"? I must have missed that meeting.
Didn't mean to bug you bunny and I have no idea what "Disney Values" means. I'm sorry you don't have a soul, perhaps you are spending too much time at Six Flags :lookaroun

(PS- This whole thread is "tongue n cheek". Perhaps that vacation is overdue:shrug:)

What keeps that tunnel from flooding when it rains?

Tks.
:)

I would have to assume they have a drainage pipe somewhere in there with a bilge pump attached to it.
This is like complaining about the Mona Lisa because the smile is crooked. Maybe we should dye Seven Seas Lagoon the color blue so it looks better, too?

Its an underpass and nobody cares! :ROFLOL:
Evidently somebody did because they started a thread on it, and some people have bothered to respond. Granted it might not be as exciting as discussing the likely hood of a expanded monorail system, but it was still worth a read.
This singlehandedly has to be one of the most ridiculous threads ever. Dirty roofs? Pipes in an underpass? Good grief. This is precisely why Disney "purists" can be scary, scary people.
How dare those silly people! Expecting Disney to be a step above the rest.

DMC-12

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Except that they already are.

My point being, when does the madness stop? Honestly? Clean roofs? Themed drainage pipes?

I'm cancelling my next trip to WDW because these non-themed pipes I dont really see for a whole 2.5 seconds while I am driving under said water bridge, totally ruined my last trip. :( :(

Don't say Ever..... there probably are some better threads that qualify as a WTH?

Not sure if this is the roof in question, but someone just might be listening... They just filed paperwork today to repair and re-coat the TTC monorail station's roof.

Okay, in all honesty, I think we can agree that had to be addressed. I mean, that is in plain view (even if it is for only a few seconds) and it is pretty awful looking.

Of course, what roof are they talking about? It looks like its the station roof. Its the TTC ticket booth roofs that needs fixing. I could care less about the monorail station roof; no one sees that one!

Ahem! :lookaroun

By the way, as mentioned earlier, the water tunnel next to Epcot has light theming. The walls have boardwalk-esque details so obviously someone thought of this, planned it, funded it and had it consructed because it was deemed a worthwhile project.

I'm just saying. :ROFLOL:

I know this will make me look like the dumbest blonde in the world.... but I'll admit that I've driven under that underpass many many times, and only about a month ago did I realize (from reading something on these boards) that it went underwater!!! I've really never paid that much attention--- so I'd venture to say that the normal guest probably doesn't even think twice about the underpass, let alone the pipes...

Yeah, I think the only way a casual Guest would realize it's a water bridge would be if they either a) saw a boat going across it as they drove underneath (and realized that what they were seeing up there was a boat), or b) happened to notice that the road dipped under the water while on the monorail or on a boat. Without those two, it looks more like a highway overpass.

As for the Epcot resorts water bridge, I doubt that almost anyone knows it's a water bridge unless they read about it online. There's no outside visual cues on that one...
