Actually - that is not true...it wasn't standard procedure - but they did do it even when they weren't doing media production. I saw it start several times start in Frontierland when we frequented going over the summer. I just looked it up to be sure - and this is what google said:
Yes,
SpectroMagic did occasionally run in opposite directions on the same night, particularly during busy summer seasons or high-attendance nights for crowd control purposes.
While the standard route for SpectroMagic was for the parade to start on Main Street, U.S.A. and move toward Frontierland, it was sometimes reversed for the second showing to help manage crowd flow, particularly for guests trying to exit the park at closing.
- Typical Routine: The 3:00 PM daytime parade usually runs from Frontierland to Main Street.
- SpectroMagic Routine: The 9:00 PM (first) show usually ran from Main Street to Frontierland.
- Reversed Routine: To allow for better crowd dispersal, the 11:00 PM (second) show would sometimes run in reverse, starting from Frontierland and moving toward Main Street.
This, however, was not the standard, everyday operation, and it was considered somewhat rare, though confirmed to have happened in the mid-1990s through the mid-2000s.
