MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

Thankfully, that issue is rather easy to resolve, should they choose. The hardest step was getting us a parade to begin with.
That’s why I said it’s the issue that is hard to forgive - cause it’s the easiest to fix and it would have been the easiest to fix before the parade opened.

The fact that it was hard to get a night parade running at MK is part of a much bigger problem of course.

Ah - sorry I maybe misunderstood what you were asking. I have seen it multiple times in person.

The tricky thing is the parade isn’t “bad” - it has issues. If that makes sense?

The biggest issue that is hard to forgive is the lack of characters and dancers on the ground.
Would you classify the parade as being good tho? I know its touch to actually be fair bc we went so long with no parade at night. But if you could be honest. Is this parade really good? Maybe classifying it and asking is it that “bad” a better language is asking is this really that good? I have refrained from watching it bc it seems unfair but i think i may at some point to try and get an idea.

Yes I would. I watched it multiple nights in a row. It’s a good and enjoyable night parade. The music, intro, and concept are all wonderful.

But it’s lacking… the best part of the parade is the princess float and the train float because both are filled with characters so there is lots of energy - that needs to be the whole parade - not just those 2 moments.

As was mentioned earlier - it’s an easy thing to fix.

It’s good and makes your MK evening better because you get it and fireworks.

Yes!!! How could I forget to mention - it made the MK feel like the MK again!!! Seriously - a night parade is part of the fabric of the castle park experience - just like the fireworks.

Plus it changes the flow of guests in a positive way - allowing for attractions to have shorter waits towards the end of the day and it spreads out the crowds leaving the park.

Had high hopes for this and finally saw it last night! I'm glad we got it; MK feels incomplete without a night parade. There's a lot here that's visually wonderful and technically impressive. There just...needs to be more of it.

I definitely see what people are saying about the parade feeling small. Half the floats were underwhelmingly little, and there should have been more street performance between them for sure.

Because of that it felt like songs from different films didn't have a lot of time to breathe. I don't think any of the characters sung any lyrics at all. Not saying I think the main theme needs them - I actually disagree with that. But speaking of the main theme, talk about a buildup and a letdown. The grand, orchestral rendition at the very start fills us with so much joy, and then...we never hear it again until the parade's over. And whenever we do get the kind of memorable, hummable music Disney's known for, it feels like it's fighting for space with that EDM beat. I think I would have looked past a lot of my other issues if I'd liked the music more.

Hoping one of these will be the permanent removal of the Wish unit due to the movie’s lack of popularity and lukewarm enthusiasm from most park goers and its replacement will be revealed later on
I think they need to add more floats instead of replacing ones that already exist. I like the parade more than most people on here but it is a little short.

Top 100. But #1 in my heart.

Based on the great reaction to Zootopia 2 : The Furries Strike Back, in typical Disney rushed fashion they will introduce a Zootopia float in 3-5 years.

While more floats wouldn’t be bad - I think it feels short because of the pacing and lack of characters and dancers in between each float. You could add 50% more floats but if they went by at the same pace with nothing else added it would still feel like a short parade. (I only saw it during the opening week - they may have slowed down the pace idk)

They have slowed the pace. I honestly like the large floats. I think more ground performers and a few smaller units (like other parades had—SpectroMen, Ursula, etc.) would fill it out well.

I’ve seen it several times and really enjoy it. But nothing is perfect. It could use more street performers - that is what looks budgeted out to me.

I like how the floats slowly build in size as the parade progresses. I will also admit that the sound track didn’t impress me initially until I saw it in person. I really liked it after hearing it live. A live, in-person experience was great, as was crowd response.

But if they are going to plus it, even better!

Personally the pacing of the floats themselves doesn’t feel off to me. Something needs to be done about the performers in between though. Like I said in my review after seeing it for the first time the with the exception of the performers with the princess float(even those ones are a little dark) the abstract style does not work.

The main thing with the dancers is that seemingly you’re not supposed to be looking at them, but what they’re holding. The butterflies, the runes and the fans/fiberoptics. The problem is that it’s not dark enough as you can still them.

Last performance of HEA tomorrow at 9 pm. Starlight at 8 pm and 10:30 pm. MK set to close at 11 pm.

Less than two weeks to go till January and no hours posted for Starlight, but HEA posted for 9 pm. I sort of wonder if they will go to one performance per night or just expand to 10 pm and have the park finish a 2nd showing of Starlight.

As someone who has grown up in and worked in the creative world / theatre industry... it's just such a dumb creative choice. Truly.

I mean, I usually fall under the umbrella of "art is subjective, be nice", but they look like Motion Capture artists. The costumes are horrible for everyone outside of the Princess Float dancers (and even those could be improved).

I get what they were going for but There’s no way people aren't going to notice performers right in front of them so why not lean into it and cover their costumes with lights at least?

While improvements are nice and I'm happy to hear about, I saw it on my vacation with my older mother last weekend, first visit since 2019, and without telling her a thing, she said "That was a bit short now wasn't it." - it just hurts that they couldn't manage to put the funds in to do it right, best foot forward, the first time. Just things as a creative that hurt me, and already has hurt initial thoughts of my lifelong fan mother, who doesn't want to see it again.

I mean, that's essentially what they did with the court dancers and why they at least work reasonably well in person. I don't personally mind the idea that the costumes are meant to recede, but they should incorporate additional lighted details that mimic and enhance the props. For instance, the Frozen cast should have more of the lighted runes affixed to their tabards, the Encanto crew could have a cascade of lighted butterfly appliqués that almost look like a ruffled closure on a diagonal, and the Moana dancers could have strategically-placed swirled fiber optics similar to the subtle patterns already on their outfits.
