I don't disagree, but gaining the asset was OK with me. The Fox one was dumber than Marvel, IMO. At least they made money with Marvel.

The only reason why anything Wish is in the parks is because Disney can not dynamically do things in the parks, and it was planned out long before the movie bombed and failed so spectacularly. If there were any sort of encouragement of independent thought, anything Wish related anywhere in the parks would be Stitch or Furrytopia right now.

Maybe it's for the best.

In hindsight, they probably would have overpaid for the rights, with the current low popularity of the MCU. Additionally it would have taken them probably about a decade to bring anything (land or park) with a coherent MCU theme to Florida.

Now you have a weird amalgamation of two IPs (Marvel and The Simpsons) just languishing at USO because it makes no sense to invest anything into either, and Disney has seemingly no interest in pursuing it (because the price point would be too high.).

Disney not pursuing Simpsons makes sense. Simpsons contract is supposed to expire in 2028 and explains why pursuing Simpsons is not a good idea from a buying standpoint.

When I was in college and worked as a character performer at both Disney and Universal, there were rare occasions where furries would come to the park as guests - not in costume - but would very intentionally make it known who they were.

It led to some extremely awkward and uncomfortable interactions. For me, this was a job - not a lifestyle.

I do love how the group that supposedly was created to oversee that there would be no contradictions within Star Wars related media was supposedly overseeing continuity with the Sequel Trilogy which was literally filled to the brim with contradictions.

Just the Marvel movies made the acquisition worth it. However, whether or not it was good for Parks is a different discussion and I wouldn't disagree. But $4B for Marvel was a no-brainer as was Star Wars. Alas, they screwed that up too but buying it wasn't a mistake.
