News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

The real question is how hard will it be to get a reservation for the restaurant. Nothing worse than staying at a resort and being unable to eat there.

News Bob Iger outlines the need to transform the Walt Disney Company resulting in 7000 job losses and $5.5 billion in cost savings

exec hunger games time. the way this works is they say then need $X in budget cuts. The cuts get peanut buttered out along with a rough headcount reduction target. Starting at the top they look for a few key execs to chop. Then they shuffle/regorg around stuff. They do an HR led 'performance...

can Disney bring it all back.. or have they gone TOO FAR...

Build auditorium venues and with the ones they have produce live shows that rotate / update every 2-3 years. They can ‘eat’ a lot of guests And would increase the experience. Sprinkle back in the street performers as well. The studios performers…. The jack sparrow skit….. when the ONLY thing...

News Bob Iger is back! Chapek is out!!

Very happy to see Chapek removed. While much of todays Disney poor performance was amplified by his decisions, it is the result of much longer poor planning. The parks are underinvested in maintenance, service and capacity…and no magical mixture of apps/technology can paper over it. The...

Why I may not go again

Here’s a crazy idea….. why not have certain weeks out of the year where they dramatically raise prices and lower attendance. Come up with a marketing angle on it. Eliminate genie+, all standby lines. No private tours. Think triple cost, 1/3 the max crowd.

News Walt Disney World's Minnie Van service confirmed to return summer 2022

We used the service when it first launched for Boardwalk guests. Flat $20 a ride on Disney property. It was great. For us an easy choice when going to AK or MK. Then by the next trip they jacked the prices and went variable. What was a $20 trip was now $35-45. Ouch. So ok, maybe we splurge...

News New lobby layouts coming to Disney's Old Key West and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort

Just back from a stay at Saratoga. The ‘new’ check in area looked ok, but for me functioned horribly…. a group of unrelated customers walked in in a line…. Everyone split up coming in the door. Some were approached by employees. A few of us weren’t. Then it became unclear what to do. Do we queue...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

My two cents after a week of using the product…. 1. just too many people in the parks. I realize it’s the most crowded week of the year, but just too many people for the walkways, rides, shops and restaurant. Nothing they do without expanding the parks or reducing admittance can fix it. 2...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

We’re on day three using Genie+. Rough start but getting the hang of it. Previously heard it’s either not needed when slower or not effective when busy. Well, it’s been busy and we’ve found it useful. It ‘feels‘ like the old paper fastpass minus having to run from ride to ride to get the...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I’ve been reading for months about Genie+. First day experience at the resort. The night before had a report employee help me purchase Genie+. Wake up at 6:30. Get ready to button mash. 7 am, offers start. I grab a paid rise of the resistance. Then try and get LL. Suddenly the app is sending me...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

one of a few scenarios have to play out for genie+ to have value 1. Higher gate cost reduces daily attendance, making wait times reduce. 2. Number of people buying genie+ is less than prior fastpass usage 3. Additional rides add capacity and attendance hold steady or declines. 4. Pricing for...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Agree! Seems like maybe you get one ride out of it... the next one you get will likely be late in evening. Shocker these guys didn't run modeling to demonstrate real value. With data availability, the community will quickly show how little value this seemingly adds. The only real play is to...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

We're going the week of Xmas... So much stress already being added.. Do we buy Genie+ in advance? Do we buy day by day? If you can buy day by day, why in the world WOULD you buy in advance? We've been there at xmas and had a really bad stretch of weather. I've already paid for the crazy...

Labor cost cutting measures begin at Walt Disney World as the company enters Q1

My 2 cents. The pic above of the crowds shows the problem. Parks were overcrowded. Impossible to move or ride. If they jack prices and limit attendance, ok with me. But we all know they will jack prices and let parks get that crowded again.

Labor cost cutting measures begin at Walt Disney World as the company enters Q1

We’re a family of four with 600+ DVC points and are one of those families that spends a lot on trips. We’ve usually done the annual pass. Eat sit down dinners. Spend on the Minnie van. Spend on the events, etc. This year we’re going Christmas week. First time back in a year. Didn’t buy the...
