    Tipping

Tipping is no longer included in character meals for the DDP? The union flack for the dining staff should be flogged for such a lapse, it isn't like the dining staff are either overpaid or overtipped for the work they do. I mean, seriously, if you get a coupon for "free character...

    Rebuild Treehouse Villas??

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET! :sohappy: I've pedaled a rental bike through that abandoned looking area several times from OKW heading to the Disney Institute (ok, SSR, whatever the nom du jour is :p ) always wanted to stay there since it seemed so rustic, quiet and private. Hopefully they can keep the...

How many points do you have?

I guess my old-school resort is showing, we've got 220 at OKW originally and later added 150 at VB for 370 total. Definitely has been enough for multi-night stays at grand villas at OKW or the beach houses at VB on the trips where we don't do the 1BR or studio thing to save points for later years.

    new dvc member

Welcome home!! We can't wait to see how SSR feels in person for a few nights! We've been members at OKW for a decade and VB for a bit less, first time staying at SSR this weekend, have to see how it compares to our home resorts!

    Smoking in Non-Smoking Rooms

By the context, I'm guessing they meant Disney's Boardwalk Inn over by Epcot. As frequently as acronyms are tossed about around here, our kindly host Steve has taken the time to put together a comprehensive list of the more commonly used ones here: http://www.wdwmagic.com/acronyms.htm Note...

    Smoking in Non-Smoking Rooms

I wonder if some of those breaking the no-smoking rules are doing it out of ignorance and not out of lack of consideration. There is a decent percentage of non-English speaking visitors to the parks and resorts, and I'm sure some of them come from countries where the no-smoking rules are lax...

Major Disney Security Issues (long post)

I would much rather have the option of paying cold hard cash up front months in advance for any hotel stay of any length to guarantee a room when I checkin than to play the overbooked lottery at checkin time. At least, I'm assuming that the pre-paid patrons have a higher ranking than those...

Question For Full Time Cast Members

Having done the white-collar gig at WDW about a decade ago, my POV may be a bit dated. At the time, I was lured into a project at the Team Disney building across from DTD doing software development for a project that included the pricing/booking of trips on future (at the time) Disney Cruise...

Major Disney Security Issues (long post)

Overbooking in the travel industry is similar to planning for the reception at a wedding. You assume that a certain percentage of folks aren't going to show. For a wedding, that just means you send out 200 invites, and book a banquet hall that seats 125 before you have received a single...

Major Disney Security Issues (long post)

Back to the OP's problem with a fridge at OKW that reeks to high heaven... I can easily understand why the person from housekeeping would just spray some deodorizer in the area, as they likely can't get to the area where the problem really is without help from the maintenance staff! In the...

    Pros/cons of Disney Vacation Club?

As a DVC owner in OKW and VB since pretty much day one, I can say that trying to get a Grand Villa at OKW during any holiday season is a lottery at best. Even if you have ownership in OKW, unless you are in the phone system's queue prior to the call center opening exactly 11 months to the day...

    Terrible restaurants

I'm starting to wonder if the lack of good service at the full service restaurants is due to the dining plans that include an 18% tip. At the point the server realizes a dining plan is in use, the server knows that no matter how bad they treat the guest, they'll still get 18% of the tab...

    Terrible restaurants

Similar to the gates of the parks closing once they are at capacity, why don't counter-service restaurants at the parks close their doors once they are over capacity? It isn't like the full service restaurants let you loiter around without the expectation of getting served at some point that...

    Lodging along the way

Next time have them explain how the text on every bit of US printed currency "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" doesn't apply to them.

Photos of my little Blossom Mouse Sculpture

Very nice! If that is a functional needle in her hand, you should stick a few inches of thread through the eye to make it even more realistic looking.
