photos usually really do look better at smaller sizes. the noise is less noticeable at smaller sizes like in the LCD of the camera. Try shooting at lower ISO because higher ISO usually tend to be grainier and colors lose their real saturation.

The real advantage of DSLR with compacts would be its bigger sensor thus better shots at low-light conditions as opposed to compacts. Plus you can change lenses. If youre looking for a bag, the brand lowepro offer a lot of sling and compact bags that can make bringing a DSLR more convenient...

if money is no issue then i'd probably get a 300mm or 400mm lens with 2.8 aperture capability that would be really great. What I recommend tho, in a more realistic sense would be an 18-200mm lens. covers everything you would need. 1.8 aperture prime lens would also come in handy for portrait shots
